Every year, the flu virus spreads across the globe, causing illness in 20% of the population. It is a contagious respiratory illness. Over 200,000 people are hospitalized in the U.S. each year from flu complications. The elderly and young children are at highest risk.
There is more than one type of flu virus – two influenza “A” viruses (H1N1 & H3N2) and two influenza “B” viruses. Both types undergo changes in their outer surfaces, so it is a challenge to make vaccines that keep up with theses changes.
Eugene Urgent Care carries the Quadrivalent Vaccine, designed to prevent all four types of Influenza.
Yearly flu vaccination should begin once the vaccine is available and is best if obtained before the onset of the usual flu season. While there is evidence to suggest even getting the vaccine late in the season can be helpful, it is best if obtained from now through October. The sooner, the better.
In past years, Eugene Urgent Care has had enough vaccine to care for all our patients. Other health care facilities have not been as fortunate. Getting your flu shot at Eugene Urgent Care is fast and affordable. Protect yourself and your community. Come and get yours now.
